Why Florida loves waterproof flooring

Any flooring retailer is going to tell you that when a location is in a storm-prone area, waterproof flooring can help minimize the damage. It absorbs and keeps water and moisture from spreading to other rooms.

A family-owned company, Britt's Carpet Outlet we've been in business for over 40 years, and the fact that we've lived in this area for so long means we understand some of the challenges. Weather is one of them.

Our flooring store has the largest inventory in SW Florida and that wouldn't be complete without waterproof flooring. We're also full service. What that means for you as a consumer is that you don't have to run all over town for various services, such as installation or rug binding. For 20 consecutive years, we were named by News-Press as the "Best in SW Florida."

Our showrooms are located in Ft. Myers and Cape Coral and we service Cape Coral, North Fort Myers, Pine Island, Punta Gorda, Lehigh Acres, Estero, Bonita Springs, FL.

What is waterproof flooring?

It's the newest version of luxury vinyl flooring. While it has all of the style of this product, and it is always waterproof, it has a different core called WPC (wood plastic composite) that offers the highest level of protection against water and moisture build-up. You'll get all the wood, tile and stone looks and texturing features but, as they'll explain in the store, won't peel, flake or ripple. If a pipe bursts or an appliance floods, the flooring will absorb it.

Why is moisture protection so important?

If humidity builds up, it can form little pockets in walls, and your walls will start to peel and flake. Mold can also start growing, and that wreaks havoc with the rest of your furnishings.

Anything can cause moisture, such as everyday activities like showering, cooking or doing laundry. Even clogged drain pipes, while outside, also affect the inside of homes, as well as, of course, the weather.

If you still need convincing, think about this: Ever wonder why your windows will sometimes fog up? That is condensation. Anything causes it.
